The Bank Codes (The Clearing codes)
When making a bank transfer one is often faced with Bank Codes such as BIC code, SWIFT Code or IBAN Code! What is meant by these Codes and which Codes does one need for an IBAN Calculator.
The SWIFT (SWIFT Code) is the Identification code for the Business or Bank. You can also say the BIC (BIC Code) or the Bank Identification Code for the Banks.
The Allocation Office for the SWIFT or also BIC is the “Society for Worldwide Inter bank Financial Telecommunications” the abbreviation is SWIFT (S.W.I.F.T.)
SWIFT (http://www.swift.com) was founded in 1973 as SCRL (Belgian Cooperation) in La Hulpe, Belgium. The resulting SWIFT network now and as of then the news exchange between the SWIFT members.

For example the 22 figure IBAN Code in Germany is:

- DE Abbreviation of the country according to ISO 3166 (DE for Germany)
- PP Control number
- BBBBBBBB Bank Sort Code
- KKKKKKKKKK Account number (if this is shorter than 10 digits, then those missing are filled in with zeros
